Finding Your PurposeThrough Movement, Connection, and Expression

Today, I found myself sitting quietly, taking in a musical performance.

Not just hearing it… but feeling it.

There’s something powerful about watching someone fully in their gift. The way their voice carries emotion. The way their presence fills the space. The way, without even trying, they create a moment where others feel seen, understood, and connected.

And as I sat there, I couldn’t help but reflect on something deeper…

Purpose.

Calling.

What The Alchemist calls your Personal Legend.

“It’s what you have always wanted to accomplish. Everyone, when they are young, knows what their Personal Legend is.”

And that got me thinking…

Finding your purpose, what Is Your Personal Legend… Really?

When you strip everything away, the expectations, the noise, the comparison, what is it that truly lights you up?

Not what looks good.

Not what others expect of you.

Not what feels safe.

But what moves you.

For so many of the women and couples I work with, especially here in Utah County, this is where the disconnect begins.

Somewhere along the way, we stop listening to that inner voice.

We trade it for responsibility.

For predictability.

For doing what we should do instead of what we’re called to do.

And over time, something starts to feel… off.

You might feel it as:

  • A lack of connection in your relationships

  • A heaviness or anxiety in your body

  • A sense of “I know there’s more for me, but I don’t know what it is”

  • Or simply feeling disconnected from joy

This is something I see often in my West Coast Swing classes in Utah County, in my Move with Meaning series, and even in my breathwork coaching sessions.

It’s not that something is wrong with you.

It’s that you’ve drifted away from your natural expression.

The Body Knows Your Purpose

Here’s something I deeply believe, and have lived about finding yoour purpose:

Your body already knows your Personal Legend.

Before the mind overthinks it.

Before fear steps in.

Before comparison takes over.

Your body feels it.

This is why movement, especially something like West Coast Swing, can be so transformational.

It’s not just about learning steps.

It’s about:

  • Reconnecting to your body

  • Learning how to feel again

  • Experiencing connection in real time

  • Letting go of control and stepping into trust

When I’m on the dance floor, especially in those moments where the connection just flows… there’s no overthinking.

There’s just presence.

And in that presence, something powerful happens: You start to remember who you are.

This is why I always say:

A place where every step, every breath is a chance to UPLIFT.

Because it’s not just dance.

It’s a pathway back to yourself.

Why We Resist Our Own Gifts

But here’s the truth…

Even when we feel that pull toward something deeper, we often resist it.

Why?

Because it usually asks us to do things that feel uncomfortable.

To be seen.

To be different.

To not fit the mold.

And instead of leaning into that, we often do the opposite.

We surround ourselves with people who think the same.

We stay in environments that feel familiar.

We avoid anything that challenges us.

I’ve been in those spaces too.

Spaces where, instead of celebrating differences, there’s this subtle pressure to conform.

To be more like everyone else.

But here’s the thing:

Your Personal Legend was never meant to look like someone else’s.

The Beauty of Differences (and Why They Matter)

One of my favorite places to witness this truth is in the West Coast Swing community.

When you watch a group of professional dancers, you’ll notice something incredible:

No two dancers look and feel the same.

Even if they’re dancing to the same song.

Even if they’re using similar patterns.

Each one brings:

  • A different energy

  • A different story

  • A different way of expressing the music

And what’s beautiful is that they resonate with different people.

That’s the magic.

Your gift is not meant to reach everyone.

It’s meant to reach the right people.

And when you fully step into your own expression, you give others permission to do the same.

Learning From Others Without Losing Yourself

Now this doesn’t mean we don’t learn from others.

We absolutely do.

Growth requires:

  • Guidance

  • Practice

  • Exposure to new ideas

But there’s a difference between learning and replacing yourself.

Learning says:

“How can I expand what’s already inside of me?”

Replacing says:

“I need to become someone else to be enough.”

And this is something I’m really intentional about in my classes, whether it’s:

  • Move with Meaning (West Coast Swing leveled series)

  • Live in Love (couples connection experience)

  • Play Passionately (ladies styling & breathwork sessions)

I don’t teach you to become me.

I guide you to become more of you.

To trust your body.

To explore your expression.

To find your way of moving, connecting, and being.

What Happens When You Say Yes to Your Purpose

When you begin to lean into your Personal Legend, even in small ways, things start to shift.

You feel more alive.

More connected.

More grounded in who you are.

Your relationships deepen because you’re showing up more authentically.

Your anxiety softens because you’re no longer fighting yourself.

Your confidence grows, not from perfection, but from alignment.

And it doesn’t require a complete life overhaul.

Sometimes it starts with something simple like:

  • Trying your first dance class

  • Saying yes to a new experience

  • Taking a moment to breathe and feel your body

Small steps.

But powerful ones.

Your Invitation

If you’ve been feeling that quiet pull…

That sense that there’s more inside of you…

That desire to reconnect, to your body, your joy, your expression…

Know, it’s still there.

Your Personal Legend didn’t disappear.

It’s just waiting for you to listen again.

And maybe…

Just maybe…

That starts with a step onto the dance floor.

A Place to Begin (Utah County – West Coast Swing & Somatic Movement)

If you’re local to Utah County and feeling ready to explore this in a supportive, welcoming space, I’ve created a few ways we can connect:

  • Move with Meaning – Beginner to advanced West Coast Swing series

  • Live in Love – Couples date night experience focused on connection

  • Play Passionately – Women’s movement, styling, and breathwork sessions

These aren’t just classes.

They’re spaces to:

  • Reconnect with your body

  • Build confidence in a safe environment

  • Experience real connection, with yourself and others

  • And yes… have a lot of fun along the way

Final Thought

You don’t have to force your purpose.

You don’t have to chase it.

You simply have to return to yourself.

Because what you’re meant to do…

What you’re meant to share…

Has been inside you all along.

And when you finally let it move through you,

Whether through dance, breath, connection, or expression,

That’s when everything begins to UPLIFT.
